Help Yourself Stop Your Gambling Habit. 5 Reasons Why?

By Michelle Tee

Should you really stop your gambling habit now? You have had so much fun gambling in the past. It is a great escape and you are such a hard worker and do you not deserve an escape?

There is much truth in the fact that gambling that starts off as recreation or a harmless escape can turn into a full-fledged gambling addiction. Not all people who gamble for fun will turn into gambling addicts. I do, however, believe that there are some good reasons to stop your gambling habit now.

You will prevent yourself from developing a full fledge gambling addiction if you stop your gambling habit now. If it is just a habit, but your trips to the casino have been increasing, you may actually have a strong chance of developing a gambling addiction.

If you make the decision to stop your gambling at this time, I believe that you will have more time to pursue interests that you could have been putting on the back burner. When you gamble, this can take you away from your other hobbies or interests. Gambling can be all-consuming in one's life.

Gambling also has a way of sucking you in to a dream world of gambling. In this dream world, you may neglect responsibilities and important things in life. You may do this even if your gambling behavior has not progressed into a full-blown gambling addiction.

When you stop gambling, you may also become more in touch with your real feelings and your emotions. Gambling has a way of numbing you out, focusing only on the act and behavior of gambling. When you stop gambling, you may start to feel your true feelings again.

Lastly, if you stop your gambling habit now, you will save hundred to thousand of dollars per year. Even if your gambling is just a bad habit, and had not progressed to a gambling problem , you will still save a lot of money. If you add up how much money you have spent on your gambling in the past year, it may be a lot more money than you thought!

As spoken before, when you have a gambling habit, this does not necessarily mean you will develop a compulsive gambling addiction or gambling problem. It can mean, however, that you are at greater risk for developing this, as many and most studies have shown. Realize that you will notice improvements in your life if you stop your gambling habit now. - 16650
