Natural Home Remedy For Eczema

By Kristy Matthews

Eczema is a reaction of your skin to a physical or environmental irritant. Some people just have more sensitive skin than others (possibly due to lower immune levels, or a deficiency of some kind) and therefore, react differently. Some common substances that trigger a flare up would be detergent or detergent residue on your clothes. Or you may be reacting to stress or certain types of food.

A person suffering from eczema will find that the skin to become very itchy. It is thought to affect 1 in 20 people, at some point in their lives, but is most common in children. Because the cause of the condition is not very well understood, it is not easy to find one single remedy for eczema that works for everyone. However, there are a number of natural treatments that are recommended to help relieve the itchiness and redness.

There are many skin conditions and symptoms that are thought to be Eczema. Some of the common symptoms are red skin, rashes, bleeding, oozing, very dry skin, itchiness and more. Both adults and children are affected by the condition but children generally seem to have it clear up when they reach early adulthood. However, for both adults and children, it is important to look for possible factors that may triggering a flare up.

One of the most common complaints with Eczema is the dry flaky skin that occurs. One natural remedy for eczema is to use an oil like Vitamin E or Olive Oil to lock in the moisture of your skin. You can also try a moisturizer - but be sure to check for any harsh chemicals or fragrance. Some have found Vaseline's Ultra Healing lotion to help. And others prefer Eucerine. Either way, if applying the remedy worsens the Eczema, it is best to discontinue use and consult a physician.

There are many herbal remedies for eczema available to help reduce the symptoms. Applying honey to your skin for it's anti-bacterial properties, drinking or consuming ginger pills or tea for it's anti-inflammatory properties and making a tumeric powder and olive oil paste to apply to your skin for it's anti-inflammatory properties as well. Once you get to know the natural properties of the herbs provided by nature, you are on your way to a healthier life.

The next thing to do is see if you are allergic to certain types of food. A common culprit would be dairy products - milk, cheese, etc. Once you know what the problem is, eliminate the foods from your diet to see if it acts as a remedy for eczema. If it works, you may be tempted to avoid the food group completely, and leave it at that. But an allergy could be a symptom of an immune deficiency or some other condition. Do consult your physicians to see what can be done to help your body recover and be able to tolerate these foods without a flare up of Eczema.

Steroids and steroid creams are another remedy for eczema that some people recommend. However, if overused, it can be potentially damaging to your skin and long-term health. It's strongly recommended that you avoid a steroids based medication or course of treatment if possible, as 100% natural treatments would have no harmful chemicals or potentially risky side effects.

A natural remedy for eczema would not only help relieve your symptoms, it should help strengthen your immune levels in the long run. Sometimes, a remedy for eczema might help reduce symptoms but not cure it completely. In this case, look for an overall regiment that will not only work towards relief, but a cure. A regiment with a 100% guarantee would be best so that you do not spend money on something that may not work. - 16650
